Hopefully I'll have more time to post percentage returns in the future. Normally I have these calculated out ahead of time but simply ran out time.

Yes, finding puts with decent premium to sell in this environment is not easy. Equally tricky though is finding stocks that are anywhere near price/value levels that I would be interested in selling puts on!

Looks like a great set of results (under ideal conditions, as you said). I hoped you would state the percentage gain in each case...

Now the 'problem' is to sell more puts with decent premium in this low volatility environment!

Thanks. I've been meaning to post an update for a while now, but other matters seemed to keep interfering. Hopefully now I'll be back to posting on a somewhat more regular schedule.

Hi Steve,

I don't use a formal system, so I usually describe my reasons for initiating any given position in its respective write up. However your question's a good one as I do follow a generally consistent overall strategy - using both technical and fundamental analysis - which I've probably never really elaborated on.

I think this topic is worth a post of its own. Once I get caught up reporting on my accumulated new naked put positions (many of which are September/October-expiring options) I'll write a post describing this in full. Thanks for the idea!

Very nice results.

Have you ever explained how you choose the stocks on which to sell puts? I'd be most interested to know.

Great post on how to recoup losses by selling long-dated puts. As always, patience is a virtue.

Thanks. I do have a couple of new naked put positions that I'll be posting about, probably next week (this week's a busy one). They're in stocks that - unlike the market - have been experiencing some serious volatility.

I have accounts at Interactive Brokers and E*Trade. The latter was a carry-over of an account I had at Brown & Co., which was bought by E*Trade. If I were opening an account today I'd probably consider OptionsXpress or thinkorswim.

Nice....great mix of dividend paying stocks at smart strike prices. Sweet expiration, you freed up a ton of maintenance margin. Smart recovery on MSFT, FRO, PFE & GE. Have you initiated any new positions yet? I'm still waiting for this market to take a breather and pull back. A little volatility would be nice.

What brokers do you use? I have accounts with Interactive Brokers and optionsXpress.

Good trading, enjoy the weekend!
